Website
and Facebook:
The association is increasing its development in the web space
- We have signed a hosting agreement with the company OMGSERV
for our website. The servers are in Canada and our programmer Benoît
Dufour preferred this host because it is flexible, suits our needs and
is secure. In addition, the fees are lower than the budget granted by
the Association;
- We have registered a new domain www.DufourAmerique.ca. This
domain name was chosen at the meeting of October 26, 2024. However, the
temporary address www.familledufour.ca will continue to point to our
site, this domain belongs personally to Steve Dufour and he leaves it
at the disposal of the association, free of charge, for an indefinite
period;
- We have refreshed and standardized the website and the work
is continuing;
- We asked Google to index this site, which has already
started;
- We have increased the number of our publications on the
Facebook group;
- We have placed links to the Facebook group on several of

The 2024 gathering took place on June 1 and 2, 2024 at the Travelodge
by Windham hotel in Trois-Rivières, under the theme of the
Association's 35th anniversary. During the annual general meeting,
outgoing president Hébert Dufour stepped down after a one-year reprieve
granted to the association. A new president was appointed in the person
of Marlène Roy. Thank you Marlène for accepting this role. A new
administrator was elected in the person of Josée Bernier to take the
place left vacant by Hébert Dufour. The other members at the end of
their terms agreed to renew their position and everything was accepted
unanimously. More to come.

- Despite the publication of only one annual Bulletin
(phase 2 of the transition from the bulletin to the Facebook page), you
will receive the next Bulletin No. 57 in early December and another
less formal bulletin in mid-May in preparation for the next gathering.
Hébert showed a draft of Bulletin No. 57 and discussions ensued on the
articles.
- After the discussions on the program, the comments will
be sent to Lise St-Jean who was unable to attend the meeting; Marlène
Roy, as highlighted at the AGM, reiterated her offer to support Lise in
preparing the next gathering. Discussions also focused on the
preliminary pro forma budget document and the administrators decided
that the costs should not exceed $200 per member given that the
gathering will be held over a day and a half. NOTE: If you have any
questions, you can contact an administrator of your choice to answer
them.
2023 Gathering:
The 2023 gathering took place from June 22 to 24, 2023. The event was a
great success. On Saturday, we had a visit to Chateau Frontenac and the
Vice et Vertu gin distillery in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures followed by
the impressive Illumini show in Wendake. It all ended on Sunday with a
visit to the unmissable Citadel of Quebec, not to mention having the
opportunity to visit the Lieutenant Governor's residence within the
Citadel itself.
Family Origins of Gabriel-Robert
Dufour:
In reality, the pandemic had the effect of cancelling all activities
planned for the summer of 2020.
BUT there was some positive!! Indeed, this pandemic prevented our
friend Guy Charpentier from returning to the country on time. He had to
"confine himself" in Laval in Mayenne for several months! This left him
a lot of time to do research in the registers of the Lisieux region: he
was lucky enough to find several documents relating to the family,
parents, brothers and sister of Robert Dufour, ancestor of a large
number of Dufours. See the results of his research by following the
